search the web for the Microsoft Game Studio 4.0 Redistributable download. It used to be hosted by Microsoft, but I think they took it down since they don’t support it anymore. It’s out there, hosted by other sites... get that installed then rerun the Super Rad Raygun setup.

I am also having the same issue. I have deleted and redownloaded the Game File like six times with no luck.

So this no longer comes with a Steam key?
ETA: Not that I mind either way but is there any possibility of adding the achievements in game if it will never again be available on Steam? It's been done in games such as Shovel Knight.

i think its still available on steam, the thing is that this specific purchase doesnt give you a free steam copy

Bit of feedback for the devs.
Playing this game with a keyboard is way more of a pain than it needs to be. Particularly:

- There doesn't seem to be any place to look up what keys the game even uses, except people talking about it online.

- You can only see the options menu (where you can view and change your controls) AFTER you've managed to start the game AND found the pause key.

- The keys are unintuitive and hard to guess. I get WASD, but V, G, B, Y? The pause menu key is P -- why not Esc? Enter confusingly only works in SOME of the menus -- it lets you select the 'quit' option, but doesn't let you confirm that you really do want to quit.

- You get controller button prompts like 'LT' even though you're not using a controller. Which key is 'LT'? It's also less than helpful to get a button prompt that says 'A' but the key you're supposed to press is V, not A.

Why not include a readme file that explains what the default keys are? Why not let players access the options menu from the title screen? You could also redundantly allow Esc as an alternate pause-game key, Enter as a universal confirmation key and Esc as a universal cancel key in all the menus.

2 issues, the former possibly being a source of the latter??

Context: I use keyboard (only controller I have is a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and... yeah, windows has problems with that one : ), and set my keys so that:
LB=>F (bring up upgrade menu),
Y=>K (arcshot),
B=>L (backdash/cancel),
X=>J (shoot) and
A=>space (jump/select)

1st issue: every time I open the game, 'jump/select' is un-bound from space (and not re-bound to default 'V'; just 'nothing'). Not that big of a deal since 'enter' is also registered as 'select', so it's still possible to navigate the menus to rebind the key, so in the case it's not changeable, it's ok, but would be nice if it was.

2nd issue: this time, way more... crippling...
I left the game on a while to enjoy the music, then closed the game by clicking the top right 'x' (telling this because it may matter).
Now, next the next time I open the game (and every time thereafter), the 'select' input (NOT the 'key') seems to be... permanently stuck in a 'pressed' state?? But also no because it contradicts some other observation??

I gave up trying to explain this any further via text and just made a video instead:

OK it doesn't work through the luncher you have to execute the application file in order to install the game.

WASD keys are hardcoded though, making the game unplayable. :(

There is a settings file in the game’s root folder. You can open that up in a text editor and change the controls. You can also change the settings in-game from the pause menu. “P” to pause.

I can't even download the game. I have high speed internet but it stops downloading at 50mb. Not recommended game

Awesome, thank you! The game supports most USB gamepads, or you can use the keyboard. You can customize the keys from the options menu, while in-game. (I think) the defaults are WASD VHJU and P to pause.

Just finished the game! Really enjoyed watching Rad grow over the course of the story. There's oodles of charm in the jokes, character designs, and all the tiny details. I can tell you put a lot of work into this.

I found the difficulty a tiny bit hit or miss, but I might just be bad at games. I never got stuck for too long. I DID encounter one annoying bug toward the very end of the game, where if I exited the game and then hit continue again, even after saving, it undid all my progress. Other than that, I had a great time! Looking forward to whatever you do next. :)

Sweet! To be a bit clearer about the saving issue, since you're looking into it:

I was using the downloaded Itch.io version. I booted up the game to play through some older levels to get enough bits for upgrades before before I tried to beat the second-to-last level. The first time I exited and continued, I suddenly had the same number of bits as when I'd continued from my last save file. Went 'Argh!', played through some more levels, then exited once more and had the same problem. It seemed to fix itself the third time around, when I decided to just grind enough to actually purchase the upgrades I wanted before exiting the game—the upgrades and number of bits were the same the next time I continued from my file.

It's possible that the game just doesn't save your progress after you finish old levels? In which case, er, consider this general feedback on changing that.

is there anyway to either change the keyboard controls or have a gamepad - im on macOS myself - but my keyboard is DVORAK set - so cant currently even play it

also gamepad support would make sense ;)
